Four colors, three the same, one different: click the odd one out.
Learn how good you are at discriminating colors with this app. It uses four colored quadrants, three of which are the same color and one with a slightly different hue. The test has six rounds, each with eight different hues. Your task is to click the quadrant that doesn't match the others.
The first rounds should be easy if you have normal color vision. It gets progressively harder, but that's by design -- we want to see the limits of your color vision. You'll move on to the next round if you correctly identify the odd color in more than half of the test cases.
The results of the experiment depend not only on your color vision but also on test and viewing conditions. Testing on your smartphone outside will likely yield different results than testing indoors on a high-end calibrated display under dim lighting conditions without screen reflections. If you're struggling with the test, try moving to another location or using a different device or display. I find the test much harder to do on my iPad than on my Mac using an external monitor, but I haven't figured out why yet.
Even under the right conditions, your results may still vary. Color is a psychological phenomenon that's dependent on many internal and external factors. To get a good sense of your true color vision, perform the test multiple times under different conditions and at different times of the day. The app will show your average result, which is a good representation of your color vision capability.
If you click the "folder" button, you'll see the most recent tests on the device you used for the test. That screen also allows you to log in to see and compare the results done on all your devices. Currently, only "Login with Google" is supported, but please let me know which others should be added.
The development of this application was a team effort involving Jon Cousins, whose valuable feedback significantly contributed to its success. His inputs helped in refining the app's design and functionality and also introduced the name Huebidoo. I am genuinely grateful for his involvement, and it was an honor to work alongside such a talented individual.
